1. GENERAL RULES AND DEFINITIONS

These Terms of Use cover the web sites exts.epfl.ch and www.extensionschool.ch, hereafter referred to as the "Sites", as well as newsletters, marketing and other communications services (collectively, the "Services") offered by the EPFL Extension School ("EXTS", "us" or "we").

By choosing to use the Services, you agree to abide by and to accept all of the Terms of Use defined below.

We may change, add or remove portions of these Terms of Use at any time, without express notification to you. It is your responsibility to review these Terms of Use. By continuing to use the Services, you agree to any changes.

We may change, suspend or discontinue any aspect of the Services at any time. We may also impose limits on certain features and services or restrict your access to parts or all of the Services without notice or liability.

2. USE OF THE SERVICES

The contents of the Services are intended for your personal, non-commercial use. The use of the Services is entirely under the responsibility of the user.

We will not be liable for any direct or indirect damages which could result from using or being unable to use the Services.

You may not access or use, or attempt to access or use, the Services to take any action that could harm us or a third party. You may not access parts of the Services to which you are not authorized and may not do anything that could disable or damage the functioning or appearance of the Services. You are liable for damages of any kind which you cause through your use of the Services.

The Services may contain links to other web sites or services. Links are provided for your information only. We have no control over any third-party websites and are not responsible for the availability or content of these third-party services.

3. CONTENT

All materials published on the Services (including, but not limited to design, layout, appearance, logos, images, illustrations, audio clips and video clips, also known as the "Content") are protected by copyright and are owned by the EPFL Extension School or the entity credited in the Content. You agree to abide by all copyright notices, information, or restrictions contained in any Content accessed through the Services.

Any reproduction, modification, adaptation, translation, transformation, dissemination, integration into another site or service, or other form of re-use of any kind is forbidden without the explicit, written pre-approval by the EPFL Extension School. We reserve the right to pursue legal action concerning any unauthorized use of any elements of the Services.

We will use our best efforts to ensure the information provided by the Services is accurate. However, we cannot guarantee that the information is accurate or completely up to date, and we accept no liability for any losses or damages that may arise from relying on this information. The information may change at any time without notice.

4. PERSONAL INFORMATION

In order to receive newsletters, e-mails, program materials or other communications from the EPFL Extension School, you will need to provide your personal information to us. For example, to subscribe to any of our newsletters, you will need to provide us with your e-mail address.

By providing us with your personal information as part of your request to receive communications from the EPFL Extension School, you explicitly consent to our use of that information as well as to the transfer of that personal information to third party services which we may use to provide the Services to you.

We keep all your personal information confidential and take reasonable measures to prevent the unauthorized access to, disclosure of, or use of your personal information. We also limit access to your personal information to our employees, affiliates and contractors who need to know such information to provide you with the requested Services, to ensure the quality and proper functioning of our services, to protect abuse, or where required by law.

The EPFL Extension School takes appropriate measures to ensure that your personal information provided in conjunction with the Services is protected from unauthorized use. These efforts cannot, however, guarantee that your personal information will be protected against all unauthorized access. We specifically decline all responsibility for protecting or guaranteeing the confidentiality of your personal information during its electronic transmission.

You may view the personal information you have provided to the EPFL Extension School in order to amend it or delete it if the information is incorrect, incomplete or no longer pertinent. If you would like to request details of your personal information, please send a signed, dated letter, with a copy of a valid photo ID with signature, to the EPFL Extension School using the postal address provided on the Contact page of the exts.epfl.ch web site.

You are not required to provide personal information through the Services in order to receive communications from us; you may contact the EPFL Extension School at the postal address provided on the Contact page of the exts.epfl.ch web site. You may opt out of receiving electronic communications at any time using the unsubscribe link provided in any e-mail sent to you.

5. COOKIES

When you use the Services, we use cookies to record and analyze your activities for the purposes of statistics, security, system monitoring and performance, management, content personalization, marketing and compliance with legal obligations.

Cookies are pieces of data which are stored in your browser when you visit a web site or interact with certain types of electronic communications. These pieces of data can be set and received by service providers. They allow these providers to better understand user activity.

Data including your IP address is collected by us and by third parties providing infrastructure and other services to the EPFL Extension School. These third parties may be located outside of Switzerland.

You may choose to refuse cookies or to delete existing cookies by changing the settings in your browser. However, if you choose to do so, certain parts of the Services may no longer function.

6. APPLICABLE LAW AND JURISDICTION

These Terms of Use and any part thereof shall exclusively be governed by and construed in accordance with Swiss law.

The sole place of jurisdiction for all disputes arising out of or in connection with these Terms of Use and/or the use of the Services is Lausanne, Switzerland.
